The default Docker Compose brings up six containers:
- Backend. Python FastAPI service, around 700 MB resident.
- Agent worker. Celery worker plus dependencies, scales with concurrent agents.
- GUI. Next.js build, 400 to 600 MB.
- Postgres. 1 to 2 GB working set after sustained use.
- Redis. 200 MB for the queue.
- Vector store. Pinecone is default-remote, Qdrant local option uses 1 to 2 GB.
Add it up: under 8 GB everything is technically up, anything intensive hits swap. 16 GB makes the framework feel like the marketing claims.

Hetzner CCX23. The cleanest test result. The dedicated AMD cores stopped the Celery queue from backing up during concurrent agent runs. Snapshot the box before each upgrade, SuperAGI migrations can be eventful.
Contabo VPS L. Astonishing price for the spec. The trade is slower IO during peak Postgres activity and the usual Contabo provisioning wait. Excellent budget pick if you can live with both.
Hostinger Cloud Enterprise. 8 cores at this tier is generous. The hPanel is comfortable for less Linux-fluent operators. Slightly noisier neighbors than Hetzner on our trial week.
Vultr High Frequency 16 GB. Fast cores, good disk, premium price. Reasonable choice if you need a US-east region with strong network reputation.
OVHcloud VPS Elite. Stable, EU-based, slower disk than Hetzner. The big draw is data residency for regulated work.
Setup steps that save weekends
1. Use the included Compose file as is
The SuperAGI Compose template defines volumes and dependencies correctly. Custom edits usually break the GUI to backend connection. Override via environment files rather than editing the Compose.
2. Move vectors to a managed store at scale
Local Qdrant works for personal use. Past 10k embeddings, point at Qdrant Cloud or Pinecone. Vector search latency dominates the agent response time at that scale.
3. Watch the Celery queue depth
Add a Prometheus scrape for Celery worker stats. Queue depth climbing over 10 means agents are waiting for workers and you need to scale Celery, not the model API.

Is SuperAGI still maintained in 2026?
The pace slowed compared to the 2023 launch but the repo still ships regular updates and the runtime works. Community contributions cover most plugin needs. Pin to a tagged release and you have a stable target.
Why does the SuperAGI stack need so many services?
It is a microservices design: backend worker, agent runtime, vector store, Postgres, Redis, and a Next.js GUI. Each is modest on its own. Together they bite into RAM faster than newer monolithic agent frameworks.
Can I run SuperAGI on the same VPS as Open WebUI?
If you have 16 GB RAM and 4 cores, yes. The two stacks share dependencies and the load profile is complementary. Below 16 GB, expect swap thrashing during agent execution.
Does SuperAGI need a GPU?
Not for the agent loop. Models are remote API calls by default. If you self-host the LLM with vLLM, put it on a separate GPU-equipped box and have SuperAGI hit it over the network.
How much storage do I need?
Around 12 GB for the install, 5 to 10 GB for the vector store as it grows, and whatever you decide to retain in tool execution logs. 80 GB NVMe is a comfortable starting point.
